The Dutch soprano Donij van Doorn graduated with distinction at the Conservatory of Music in Maastricht. From 2009-2011 Donij was a young artist with Opera Studio Nederland. She got to the finals of the Dutch Vocalists Presentation and received the Labberté-Hoedemaker Award at the Peter the Great Festival.
Operatic roles the versatile soprano has performed on stage include Despina in Così fan Tutte, Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia, Susanna in Il Segreto di Susanna, Valencienne in Die lustige Witwe, Frau Anna Reich in Die lustige Weiber von Windsor, Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas, Ninfa in L’Orfeo, Bubikopf in Der Kaiser von Atlantis, Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief, Lisa in Das Land des Lächelns, Ottilie in Im Weißen Rößl, Dafne in Cavalli's Gli amori d'Apollo e di Dafne and Dori in Salieri's La Grotta di Trofonio.
In oratorio, Donij has interpreted the solo parts of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s Requiem and Krönungsmesse, Händel’s Messiah, Haydn's Die Jahreszeiten, Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle and Gounod's Messe Solenelle de Sainte Cécile. She worked several times with the Holland Opera Company, where she was celebrated for her creations of the roles of Sam and Louise in the world premieres of the children opera's Suikertantes (Sugar Aunties) and 4 Musketiers.
For eight years Donij has travelled the world as soprano soloist with André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra. Aria's she performes on tour include the Vilja-song (The Merry Widow), Bach-Gounod's Ave Maria, Meine Lippen sie küssen so heiss (Giuditta), Ah fors' è lui che l'anima (La Traviata), Caro nome (Rigoletto) and Ebben, ne andró lontana (La Wally). Recordings on YouTube have been streamed millions of times.
